Cross Country Hosts 19th Annual SJC Invitational

Kings Park, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams hosted the 19th Annual SJC Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday and picked-up third and seventh-place finishes, respectively.

The women's team collected a total of 114 points and finished 56 points behind leader Fordham University. Sophomore Meagan Haviland powered the women's team with a 5k time of 20:46.3 and a ninth-place finish.

Sophomore Cassidy Jacobus (21:22.7) and freshman Sandra Marin Vivar (21:25.0) placed 21st and 22nd, respectively. Freshman Julia Boris (21:56.0) and senior Amanda Sprague (21:56.0) rounded out the SJC scoring contingent in 32nd and 33rd.

The men picked-up 209 points and trailed first-place Fordham by 164 points. They were led by junior Nick DeLuca, whose 8k time of 28:53.5 was good for a 16th-place finish.

Freshman Dennis O'Rourke (20:09.0) took 22nd, sophomore Thomas Newham (29:28.5) was 35th and senior Ryan Haun (30:06.1) finished in 53rd place.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, October 25 when they participate at the 2018 Skyline Conference Championships at Hudson Valley Sports Dome (Milton, NY).
