Women Place Second, Men Third at 2018 Skyline XC Championships

Milton, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams placed second and third, respectively, at the 2018 Skyline Conference Championships hosted by Mount St. Mary College at Hudson Valley Sports Dome on Thursday afternoon.

The women, who collected 68 points and finished 45 points behind champion USMMA, took second a year after claiming the program's 12th title at the 2017 championships.

Sophomore Meagan Haviland finished in seventh place with a 6k time of 26:22.26 and earned Skyline All-Conference First-Team honors for the second-straight season.

Sophomore Cassidy Jacobus (27:42.48) and senior Amanda Sprague (27:49.70) took 13th and 14th places, respectively, and appeared on the Skyline All-Conference Second-Team.

Freshmen Sandra Vivar Marin (27:50.75) and Julia Boris (27:57.56) rounded out the women's team's scoring contingent in 15th and 19th places.

USMMA's Robin King was crowned individual champion with a 6k time of 24:50.97.

The SJC men (95 points) were 65 points off champion USMMA in the 8k race and finished 30 points behind second-place SUNY Maritime.

Junior Nick DeLuca powered the Golden Eagles with a time of 29:02.00 and a 10th-place finish. The performance earned DeLuca Skyline All-Conference Second-Team honors for the third season in a row.

Freshman Dennis O'Rourke (29:22.00) appeared on the Skyline All-Conference Second-Team thanks to a 13th-place result.

Sophomore Thomas Newham (29:44.32), senior Ryan Haun (29.46.00) and Jeremy Anderson (31:14.00) placed 19th, 20th and 41st, respectively.

Freshman Joshua Green (27:46.10) of Farmingdale State took home Individual Champion honors as a rookie.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 3 when they participate in the ECAC Championships, also at Hudson Valley Sports Dome.
