Women Finish Second, Men Fifth at ECAC XC Championships

Milton, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams finished in second and fifth places, respectively, at the 2018 ECAC Division III Cross Country Championships at Hudson Valley Sports Dome on Saturday afternoon.

The women collected a total of 63 points and finished 47 points off of champion Vassar College.

All five of SJC's scoring contingent earned All-ECAC honors. Leading the way were sophomore Meagan Haviland (28:18.0) and freshman Sandra Vivar Marin (29:03.7), who finished the women's 6k race in ninth and 15th places, respectively.

Senior Amanda Sprague (29:18.5) was 18th, freshman Julia Boris (29:25.9) was 21st and sophomore Marlee Lopez (29:42.3) was 23rd. All three joined Haviland and Marin on the All-ECAC team.

The men totaled 118 points in the 8k race and, in fifth place, finished behind conference rivals USMMA (101 points) and SUNY Maritime (114 points). Vassar's men (36 points) also won the title.

Three Golden Eagles earned All-ECAC honors: senior Ryan Haun (30:53.9) in sixth place, junior Nick DeLuca (31:33.4) in 15th and freshman Dennis O'Rourke (31:46.9) in 17th.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their 2018 season on Saturday, November 10 when they participate in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals at Dream Park in Logan Township, NJ.
