New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released its weekly awards Monday afternoon, and amongst the winners were two St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) student-athletes, including junior Andy Laurent of the men’s basketball team and sophomore Andrea Iavarone of the women’s basketball team, who were both named Skyline Conference Player of the Week in their respective sports.

Andy Laurent (Jr.) – Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

In the men’s basketball team’s first game of the season on Friday evening, junior guard Andy Laurent dropped 27 points and added nine rebounds, five assists and three steals as the Golden Eagles suffered a 94-82 overtime loss to York College in a non-conference match-up. Laurent, who played 44 minutes, shot 10-12 from the free throw line.

Andrea Iavarone (So.) – Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Four-time Rookie of the Week in 2014-15, sophomore forward Andrea Iavarone scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to record a double-double in the women’s basketball team’s first game of the 2015-16 season on Saturday afternoon. Despite dropping the contest 87-50 to the College of Staten Island, Iavarone shot 7-14 from the field and recorded six blocks.
