St. Joseph’s Adds Seven to Athletic Department Ahead of 2015-16 Academic Year

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) athletic department announced the addition of seven members to its staff ahead of the 2015-16 academic year on Monday morning.

Athletic Administration

Stephanie Palmeri – Assistant Athletic Director for Game Day Operations and Sponsorships/Head Women’s Swimming Coach

A former assistant swimming coach at Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI) since 2013, Palmeri also spent time at her alma mater C.W. Post from 2010 to 2013 as a swim coach and Compliance Assistant. She earned her M.S. in Sport Management from Adelphi University in 2011 and will oversee regular game-day operations and sponsorship relations at St. Joseph’s.

Andrew Capitelli – Manager of Athletics Communications

Most recently serving as Sports Information Director at the Borough of Manhattan Community College since April of 2014, Capitelli will head a bolstered athletics communications department that will be responsible for the promotion of all 19 St. Joseph’s intercollegiate teams. Formerly a member of the SUNY Old Westbury and Adelphi University sports information departments, Capitelli earned a B.A. in journalism from Baruch College in 2012 and is currently working toward his M.S. in Sport Management from Adelphi.

Coaching

Kelley Watts – Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Arriving with over two decades of playing and coaching experience, Watts has seen it all. Most recently the head coach of the Center Moriches High School girls basketball team since 2011, Watts has coached at all levels of the NCAA. She headed the Adelphi University program from 2002 to 2010—where she was named NIT/MET Basketball Writers Association D-II Coach of the Year in 2004—after becoming the Merchant Marine Academy’s first-ever women’s basketball coach in 2000. Prior to her time at Kings Point, Watts served in the Hofsta University, Temple University, St. John’s University and the University of Virginia women’s basketball coaching staffs. A former Bay Shore High School star, Watts was a four-year letter winner at Rutgers University, where she earned a B.S. in Administration of Justice in 1986.

Lisa Jusino – Head Softball Coach

Lisa Jusino headed the Briarcliffe College softball team for the previous five seasons, posting a 118-42-1 overall record and appearing in the Small College World Series in every campaign. Prior to heading the program, Jusino served as an assistant beginning in 2006. She spent five years at her alma mater Adelphi University—where she earned a B.A. in communications—as an assistant coach after graduating in 2001. Outside of coaching, Jusino works as a private hitting instructor at Strictly Softball Inc.

Danzi Center Staff

Tara Manzella – Danzi Center Supervisor

Tara Manzella returns to St. Joseph’s after serving as Assistant Facility Manager and Aquatic Director in 2013-14. Manzella spent the last year as an elementary school teacher in Minnesota. She earned an M.S. in Literacy and Cognition from St. Joseph’s and B.A. in Childhood Education from Dowling.
