John Jay Bloodhounds Sniff Out a Win Over Baseball

Patchogue, N.Y. – The SJC Golden Eagles welcomed the Bloodhounds of John Jay College for a 6pm twilight game at Gregg Alfano Field looking to fine-tune their skills with their second to last regular season game, before heading into the Skyline Conference Tournament as the overall number one seed come Friday. They weren't able to add the win to their overall record, as they came up short in a 9-6 finish in favor of John Jay.

The Golden Eagles had the bats going on Wednesday afternoon, knocking a pair of home runs out of the park. In the second inning, the first homer came off the bat of Anthony Bonilla, for his first of the season. Joseph Lynn was on base, and would also touch them all giving SJC a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Dennis McAllister would follow the trend and crank one over the left field fence giving him his first homer on the 2015 campaign as well. This home run scored Brendan Sullivan who was on base after a single earlier in the inning. The Golden Eagles led by a score of 6-3 after completing a third of the game.

To SJC's dismay, the Bloodhounds kept sniffing their way towards the win, as they had multiple two-run innings, and then another set of one-run innings. The Golden Eagles went into the bottom of the ninth with a deficit of three runs, and had to cover a lot of ground with a little time. Unfortunately, they were not able to do so and would go in order to retire the ballgame.

SJC will host another twilight contest tomorrow, against New Jersey City University in a non-conference showdown. The Skyline Conference Tournament will begin on Friday, May 1, as the top-seeded Golden Eagles host the #4 Maritime Privateers.
