Girardi Strikes Out 11 as Baseball Sweeps CCNY 14-8, 5-1

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team swept a pair of games in its non-conference matchup against the City College of New York on Wednesday night at Gregg Alfano Field. The Golden Eagles are now 18-10 on the year and the Beavers fall to 4-30 on the season.
Game 1
The Beavers got the scoring started early when Rob Mandich singled home a run in the bottom of the first.
In the bottom of the fourth CCNY scored another run with a Joseph DeCarlo doubled to left field to score Mandich.
In the bottom of the fifth, Michaek Siklas reached on a fielder's choice and two runners would score after a wild throw to inch back 12-4. The Beavers would drive in four more runs after a pair of RBI singles to cut their deficit by six 12-6.
In the top of the seventh, Anthony Aloisio and Walsh would both score on wild pitches to regain SJC's six run lead 14-8.
Nick Mannarino received the start for the first game, going three innings, striking out one batter and allowed two hits.
Gehring Montoro went 2-for-4 driving in three runs and scoring one, Andrew Libertelli went 2-for-3 driving in two runs and scoring three runs.
Game 2
Matt Burnett got the second game started with a leadoff single, he would then move into scoring position stealing second base. Anthony Schuler singled to left field to put runners on the corners for Mike Griffo who was credited with an RBI, Schuler would score on the play after an overthrown ball by the first baseman for the 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second, Burnett came up to bat with runners on the corners, Tyler Costa scored with as Burnett grounded out for the RBI. Schuler knocked in another run with his second hit of the contest as St. Joseph's took a 4-0 lead.
The Beavers were retired in order through five innings, but finally broke through the hit column, with a solo homerun from DeCarlo to cut their deficit by four (5-1).
Nick Girardi struck out the first 11 batters in-a-row and was perfect through four innings. Brandon Lubrano tossed two innings and struck out four batters.
