Men’s Lacrosse Tops Marywood for First Win of 2020

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team topped Maywood, 8-3, in a non-conference contest at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The win is SJC's first of 2020 and brings them to 1-2 on the year as the Mustangs drop to 2-5.

Matt Trautman led the Golden Eagles' offense with three goals on seven shots. Anthony Passarella went for two goals and one assist and Chris Nielsen tallied one goal and one assist.

Keeper Andrew Brust (1-1) made 10 saves on 13 shots and Jesse McKeever scooped up a game-high six ground balls. Declan Canevari won 11 of 15 faceoffs.

After heading into the break tied at one, SJC tallied three of four goals in the third and went on to outscore Marywood 4-1 in the fourth quarter to clinch an 8-3 victory.

SJC outshot Marywood 42-30 and topped the guests 11-4 in faceoffs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, March 11 when they visit Salve Regina for a non-conference contest at 4:00 pm.
