Patchogue, NY| Five different players scored as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team eased past Sarah Lawrence, 5-1, on Senior Day at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 6-8 on the year and 5-3 in Skyline Conference play. The Gryphons slide to 4-9 (0-8 Skyline) with the defeat.

Following the pre-game ceremony, which honored graduating seniors Dan Cheeseman, Avery Gomez, Justin Heredia, Cody Kull, Brian O'Sullivan, Cody Puglisi and Eddie Whalen, sophomore Michael Flynn gave the Golden Eagles an early advantage when he headed an O'Sullivan corner past the Sarah Lawrence keeper in the 28th minute.

The Gryphons would tie the match before the end of the half with a 36th minute tally off the foot of Alix Legrand, which ensured the sides entered the break tied at one.

Heredia would give SJC an early second-half lead in the 52nd minute when he slotted a 1v1 attempt around the SLC keeper for his fourth goal of the season. Robert Gomez would strike two minutes later when he banged in a rebound at the Gryphons' goal line, and Kull made it a 4-1 game in the 70th minute with his fourth goal of the year.

Chance Casey would head home a right-sided cross from Michael O'Shea in the 80th minute to cap off the scoring at 5-1 for the hosts.

Gomez was not required to make a single save in a game in which his side generated 40 shots to Sarah Lawrence's four. SJC would also generate more corners (9-2).

O'Sullivan's 10 shots were a game high. Flynn and Heredia were credited with eight apiece.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, October 18 when they hosts SUNY Maritime in their final regular season home game at 7:00 PM. Both live stats and video will be available here.
