Men’s Soccer Topped by Kean at Home

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team was defeated by a score of 4-1 for the second-straight game when it was edged by Kean University at home on Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles slip to 0-2 on the year as the Cougars moved to 3-0.

SJC's only tally came off the foot of senior Rayneri Ruiz, who recorded an unassisted goal for the second-straight game in the 21st minute.

Junior Tyler Flaherty started in the SJC goal and made nine saves on 13 shots.

The Cougars took the lead in the 19th minute when Felipe Lucas scored off a header. Ruiz responded three minutes later to knot the score up at one and that's how the sides would enter the break.

Nine minutes into the second half, Lucas curled a shot around Flaherty from outside the box to put the guests ahead again, and Brandon Grine and Marco Idrovo would add insurance markers in the 64th and 89th minutes.

SJC was outshot 27-4 in the contest and conceded a total of 10 corner kicks.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 7 when they host Catholic University for the first match of the SJC Invitational Tournament at 12:00 pm.
