Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 defeat to Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence at home on Sunday afternoon. In the wake of the match, both the Golden Eagles and the Gryphons sit a 1-4 (1-2 Skyline) on the year.

The third doubles tandem of Matt Dioguardo and Phillip Branigan earned an 8-1 victory in their match to take the early 1-0 lead, but the Golden Eagle's first (Peter Rasmussen and Chris Corrao) and second (Brian Merle and Matt Gilley) doubles groups took 8-3 and 8-2 defeats, respectively, as SJC entered singles competition down 2-1.

After Rasmussen suffered a 3-6, 2-6 defeat in first singles, Corrao brought the Golden Eagles back to within one of SLC with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Garrett Hsuan. Wilfido Vasquez's win at sixth singles knotted the match at three, but defeats for Merle and Gilley at fourth and fifth singles clinched victory for the Gryphons.
