Men’s Tennis Beats John Jay, 6-3

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory over John Jay College in a non-conference contest at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Thursday evening.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 3-5 overall on the year as the Bloodhounds slip to 2-6.

John Jay opened with a win at first doubles but SJC responded with an 8-2 win at third doubles (Damian Duda/Kenneth Pettersen) and an 8-1 win at second doubles (Nick Bongiorno/William Vita) and led 2-1 heading to the singles matches.

The guests pulled back ahead, 3-2, with third and first singles wins, but from there SJC took the remaining four singles matches to earn a 6-3 win. Vita's 8-7 (7-4) win at fourth singles clinched the victory for SJC.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 13 when they host Brooklyn College of a non-conference contest at 12:00 pm.
