Mario Mayen Named NJAC and ECAC Metro Track Athlete of the Week for 4/26

Pitman, N. J. - St. Joseph's College men's outdoor track sprints specialist, Mario Mayen (Center Moriches, N.Y./ Center Moriches), won NJAC's Male Track Athlete of the Week award and the Corvias ECAC Metro DIII Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor for the period ending April 26.

Mayen was honored after his performances in the Lions Invitational on Saturday and St. Joseph's Last Chance Meet on Sunday.

In the Lions meet, Mayen broke St. Joseph's College and his own record after finishing first in the 400m with a time of 48.74 to better his qualifying time for the ECAC's.  On Sunday, the junior sprinter brought his success home, completing the 400m for another first place finish with another ECAC-qualifying time of 49.61.

Currently, Mayen's 400m victories on the season ranks him in second place in the NJAC and 34th nationally in the NCAA DIII.
