Men’s Volleyball Tops Yeshiva, Advances to Skyline Final

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's volleyball team will defend its Skyline Conference title on Saturday afternoon after it defeated Yeshiva University, 3-0, in the Skyline Semifinal round inside the Danzi Center on Thursday evening.

The Golden Eagles, now 24-6 overall on the year, will host either SUNY Purchase or St. Joseph's College (Brkln) on Saturday in the final at 12:00 pm.

SJC hit .500 in the contest and was led offensively by juniors Paul Curaro and Matthew Amberge, who both put down a game-best eight kills each.

Junior Kyle Biggers was credited with seven kills and sophomore Jack Solen had six.

Amberge collected a game-best five digs and senior Tyler Jones dished out 28 assists.

The hosts cruised to a 25-4 win in the first set and fought off an improved Yeshiva side in the second set (25-13) before finishing off the Maccabees, 25-8, in the third.

In total, St. Joseph's put down 38 kills to Yeshiva's 11. Curaro and Solen served up five service aces apiece.

In only the team's third-ever season, the Golden Eagles seek their second-straight conference title on Saturday. A win would earn SJC a berth to the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament.
