Four SJC Softball Players Named to 2015 All-Skyline Team

2015 All-Conference Team

New York, N.Y. – Four St. Joseph's Golden Eagle softball players have been named to the 2015 All-Skyline Conference Team - Julianne Tierney, Lindsey Corriss, Gabrielle Cinquemani and Mallory McClafferty.

Senior outfielder Michelle Mongiello of Farmingdale State has been named the 2015 Skyline Softball Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's eight head coaches.

The Skyline coaches also selected Cindy Connoly of Mount Saint Mary as Pitcher of the Year, Mount Saint Vincent's Rachel Heizer as Rookie of the Year and Jessica Mushel of Mount Saint Mary as Coach of the Year.

Mongiello leads the conference with a .470 batting average and her .505 on-base percentage is also tops in the Skyline. The Elmont, N.Y., native leads FSC in both doubles (16) and RBI (34) while registering 14 multi-hit performances this season. Mongiello was tabbed the Most Outstanding Player of the Skyline Championship (Apr. 24-46) as Farmingdale State captured its fifth consecutive league crown.

A three-time Rookie of the Week selection, Heizer leads the conference with 17 doubles and a .760 slugging percentage. The freshman shortstop ranks third in the league in runs scored (32), fourth in batting average (.410) and fourth in RBI (30). The Vacaville, Calif., resident has a team-high six home runs, and her 16 walks are tops in the Skyline.

Connoly has enjoyed an impressive freshman campaign in the circle, leading the Skyline in both earned run average (1.57) and strikeouts (122). The righthander from Walden, N.Y., boasts a 10-6 record with 12 complete games and a pair of shutouts. Connoly issued just 16 walks in 102.2 innings pitched and posted a 6-2 record in conference play.

Mongiello, Heizer and Connoly are joined on the All-Conference first-team by Farmingdale State's Meagan Anderson, Andrea Klarman and Marissa Monaco; Lindsey Corriss and Julianne Tierney of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Mount Saint Vincent's Mackenzie Heizer; Courtney Barbara, Chelsea Dexter, Stephanie Karcher and Michelle Surdan of Mount Saint Mary; and Alexa Silk of Sage.

The second-team All-Conference includes Shannon Sommer and Danielle Soto of Mount Saint Mary; Old Westbury's Gabriella Valdes; Jessica Adams, Kristen Beikirch, Morgan Dunn, Katie Kovage and Alana Vandenburg of Sage; Farmingdale State's Meghan Acton and Taylor Webb; Gabrielle Cinquemani and Mallory McClafferty of St. Joseph's-L.I.; and Shannon Clancy of Purchase.

In her second season, Mushel guided Mount Saint Mary to the Skyline regular season title while matching the program record of 12 league wins. MSMC (19-11) advanced to the finals of the 2015 Championship for the first time since 2005, and the Knights boast a 22-6 league record under her direction (39-25 overall). A 2010 graduate of Siena College, Mushel earned her master's degree in Literacy from Mount Saint Mary in 2012. She is assisted by Samantha Howe and John Elliot.
