Softball Takes Two From Yeshiva

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) softball team picked up a pair of Skyline Conference victories, 6-3 and 17-1, in a doubleheader vs. Yeshiva University at Fordham University on Sunday evening.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 14-10 overall and 10-2 in Skyline action as the Maccabees slip to 1-23 overall (0-16 Skyline).

SJC 6, Yeshiva 3

St. Joseph's fell behind 2-1 in the fourth inning but surged to a 6-3 win with a five-run sixth inning. Junior Alyssa Rivera (0-for-1) drove in the sixth run when she scored sophomore Zoe Kelly with a ground out to short.

Freshman Jenna DeFina and senior Jillian McFadzen both went 2-for-3 in the contest with two RBI's apiece.

Freshman Patricia McGloin started in the pitchers circle for SJC but freshman Catherine Zucker (6-3) provided 2.2 innings of relief and picked up the win.

SJC 17, Yeshiva 1 (5 innings)

The Golden Eagles scored early and often and went for seven runs in the first inning and eight in the second inning. Insurance markers came in the third and fourth innings before the game ended in the fifth due to the run rule.

Four SJC players posted multiple hits including sophomore Kassandra Tibbetts, who went 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI's. DeFina went 2-for-3 and freshman Jenna Kreiling was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI's.

Sophomore Katelyn Valente (2-2) made the start and struck out three in 2.0 scoreless innings. Freshman Samantha Yannetti fanned four batters in 3.0 innings of relief.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Monday, April 15 when they host the College of Mount St. Vincent at 5:00 pm.
