W. Basketball's Iavarone Earns Share of 2/15 ECAC Metro Rookie of the Week Award

Danbury, Conn. – St. Joseph's women's basketball player Andrea Iavarone (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) has earned a share of the Corvias ECAC Division III Metro Rookie of the Week award for the week ending February 15.  The freshman forward shares the honor with Sasha Williams of Richard Stockton College.

Iavarone shot 16-of-31 from the field, including 8-of-10 from the line and added five steals as St. Joseph's went 1-1 last week. In a 60-44 win over Yeshiva University, Iavarone poured in a game-high 23 points and added 11 boards.  The rookie forward led the team with 17 points, alongside 11 rebounds in a loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

She also won this week's Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season.  Iavarone leads SJC with 7.9 rebounds per game and is second in scoring with a 9.9 average.
