Women's Basketball Falls Short at Mt. St. Mary

Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team dropped a Skyline matchup 62-44 to Mt. St. Mary College on the road on Thursday evening.

The loss sees the Golden Eagles move to 3-11 on the season with a 1-8 mark in conference play. The Knights improve to 12-3 overall, and remain a perfect 10-0 in Skyline action.

Freshman Alyssa Adomaites led the Golden Eagles with 15 points. The guard added four rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Sophomore Megan Steinman finished with 11 points and eight boards. Senior Juliana Cintron-Leonardo pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds while dropping in six points.

Mt. St. Mary had four Knights finish in double figures with Morina Bojka leading the way with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds with a game-best six assists and five steals. Lauren Desrats recorded 12 points and six rebounds. Toriana Tabasco and Annie Keenan came away with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Knights scored first when Desrats dished to Lyndsay Pace for a layup in the opening minutes of the game and the hosts would maintain a lead wire-to-wire. Leading 37-24 at the break, Mt. St. Mary extended their lead outscoring the Golden Eagles 17-10 in the third frame and would go on to cruise to a 62-44 win.

The Knights outshot SJC 41.2%-27.9% from the field and held a 42-16 advantage in the paint.

The Golden Eagles continue Skyline Conference action when they travel to SUNY Purchase on Saturday, January 18. Game time is set for 12:00 pm.
