Five Score in Double Digits in Win Over Purchase

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's women's basketball team earned its third straight Skyline Conference win with a 64-49 victory over SUNY Purchase in the Danzi Center on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 7-13 on the season with a 5-10 Skyline Conference mark. The Panthers fall to 3-17 overall, 2-13 Skyline.

Freshman Alyssa Adomaites led the Golden Eagles with a 17-point performance while providing eight assists and six rebounds.

Freshman Julianna Knice added 13 points and five assists. Sophomore Megan Steinman came away with 11 points and eight boards. Sophomore Alyssa Signor and freshman Catherine Siounis each dropped in 10 points with the latter completing a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Purchase's Arta Krasniqi led all players with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Shadai Plowden also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

After taking a 16-12 lead after the first quarter, the Golden Eagles held the Panthers to just three points in the second frame to head into the break leading 33-15.

St. Joseph's had its worst showing of the night in the third quarter shooting just 15.8% from the field and with the Panthers dropping in 17, the visitors cut the deficit to just 10, 42-32.

The Golden Eagles bounced back with 22 points in the fourth quarter including nine from Adomaites and seven from Steinman to cruise to the 15-point win.

SJC shot 34.3% from the field while holding the Panthers to just 27.4%. The Panthers held a 12-rebound advantage, 52-40, but both sides finished with 16 points in the paint.

The Golden Eagles return to the Danzi Center on Saturday, February 8 when they host SUNY Old Westbury at 3:00 pm.
