Women's Basketball Defeats Old Westbury in Fourth Straight Win

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College picked up an 84-73 Skyline Conference win over SUNY Old Westbury in the Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon.

Four the first time since the 2012-13 season, the Golden Eagles have won four consecutive games and improve to 8-13 on the season with a 6-10 conference mark. The Panthers move to 8-13 overall and even out at 8-8 in Skyline play.

Freshman Alyssa Adomaites matched a season-best with 27 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field, 6-for-11 from three-point range.

Sophomore Megan Steinman finished with 21 points with freshman Julianna Knice pitching in with 17 points and five assists. Freshman Catherine Siounis rounded out the top scorers with 10 points and six rebounds.

La'Niya Clark led the Panthers 20 points. Micah Browne added 19 points and a game-best seven assists. Davida Warren (14 PTS, 17 REBS) and Ashley Cattle (10 PTS, 14 REBS) both finished with double-doubles.

After trailing by four, 39-35, at the half, the Golden Eagles shot 75.0% from the field en route to its best showing in the third frame. Knice (3-3), Adomaites (3-6) and Steinman (2-2) all dropped in eight points to guide the hosts to a 30-point quarter to head into the fourth leading 60-52.

 Back-to-back OW three's brought the Panthers to within seven, 65-58. The Golden Eagles answered with an 8-0 extending the lead to 72-58 cruised to the 11-point victory.

St. Joseph's finished shooting 48.8% from the field while holding Old Westbury to just 34.6%. The Panthers did most of their damage down low outrebounding 51-38 and outscoring SJC 34-18 in the paint.

The Golden Eagles continue Skyline play on Tuesday, February 11 when they travel to the College of Mt. St. Vincent. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
