W. Lacrosse to Play Keene St. in NCAA First Round in Hartford, Conn.

Indianapolis, Ind.- St. Joseph's College (13-4) will play Keene State (7-11) in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m.  The winner of the SJC-Keene contest will then play host-Trinity (17-1) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the second round.

The Golden Eagles earned the Skyline Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship by capturing their first-ever conference crown defeating Farmingdale State on Saturday, 7-5.  This is the first trip to the NCAA's for the four-year old program helmed by head coach Bob Vlahakis.

Keene (Little East Conference) and Trinity (NESCAC) both captured their conference titles and earned automatic bids.

Ticket prices for the games are $5 for adults and $2 for students and children.

NCAA Tournament Bracket

The championship provides for a 38-team tournament. Twenty-six conferences have been awarded automatic qualification for the championship. Four teams have been selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final eight berths are reserved for Pool C, which includes the remaining institutions in conferences with automatic qualification that are not the conference champion plus remaining independents and members of non-qualifying conferences.

Six first-round games will be conducted on Saturday, May 9 with the winners advancing to the second round. Sixteen second-round games will be conducted on Sunday, May 10 with the winners advancing to one of four regional sites Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17. Winners of the four regionals will advance to the semifinals and final, which take place Saturday and Sunday, May 23-14 at PPL Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Saint Joseph's University and Widener University will serve as hosts for the championship.
