Old Westbury, NY| The St. Joseph's College's (L.I.) women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to three games and remains perfect in conference play after cruising past the Old Westbury Panthers, 18-9, Sunday afternoon at Panther Park. The Golden Eagles' triumph stemmed from a fiery performance from senior midfielder Heather Ferchland, who tallied a game-high seven goals, which matched a career-best. The win improves St. Joseph's to 5-4 on the season (2-0 Skyline), while the Panthers falter to 3-8 (1-1 Skyline).

St. Joseph's' intensity was seen early and often, as midfielders Kristin Carroll and Ferchland scored two quick back-to-back goals to start the match. The scoring spree continued for the majority of the first half, which included a three-assist stretch from midfielder Jessica Cordano, who fed three different teammates to give her team a 9-2 edge.

In loom of a large deficit, Old Westbury rallied back with four unanswered goals to finish the half down 9-6.

In the second half, the Panthers beat St. Joseph's goalkeeper Lindsay Ramos for the first goal of the period, cutting the deficit to two possessions.

Over the next 12 minutes, the Golden Eagles reasserted their dominance by scoring eight unmatched goals, which put the finishing touches on the Panthers. During the span, Carroll, Ferchland, and Jenna Kelleher netted two goals each, while Cordano and Melanie Cervone tallied a score apiece.

St. Joseph's final goal came from freshman Nicole Stoppelli, who connected on an unassisted score to finish the game with the 18-9 victory.

The Lady Eagles outmatched the Panthers in offense, outshooting them 46-13, and they controlled the faceoff circle, winning 19-of-28 draw controls.

Defensively, Ferchland led the charge with a game-high six ground balls, while defender Brittany Mascia and Carroll added four scoops each. Cordano dished out a career-best six assists.

Ramos (5-4) earned the victory for St. Joseph's after blocking three shots to receive her fifth win of the year.

The Golden Eagles will look to keep their win streak alive as they prepare to battle Western Connecticut in front of their home crowd in a non-conference match on Tuesday, April 12 at 4 PM. Live stats available here.
