Women's Lacrosse Suffers 14-12 loss to Farmingdale

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-12 Skyline Conference loss to Farmingdale State College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles move to 6-4 on the season with a 4-1 Skyline mark. The Rams improve to 4-10 overall, 3-1 Skyline.

After an evenly played opened frame, the Golden Eagles went into the break trailing by just one, 7-6.

SJC's Tori Staker started the second half with her third goal of the day to even the score at seven, but FSC's Jessica Spina put the Rams back ahead with an unassisted tally. A couple of minutes later, Staker and Diana Johnston went back-to-back off passes from Nicole Stoppelli to give the Golden Eagles its first lead of the day, 9-8, but Farmingdale came back with six unanswered goals to jump ahead 14-9. SJC went on a three-goal push down the stretch, but the Rams held on for the 14-12 win.

Staker finished with a team-high six goals and 10 draw controls. Stoppelli recorded six points on three goals and three assists with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Johnston rounded out the top scorers with two goals and an assist while providing six draw controls.

FSC was led by Courtney Gendels with seven goals and an assist.

SJC's Lindsay Ramos collected seven saves with Farmingdale's Iyana Hudson finishing with six.

The Golden Eagles return to Danzi Stadium on Wednesday, April 17 and host the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy for a Skyline Conference showdown. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
