Women’s Swimming Upends SJC-Brooklyn, 88-81

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's swimming team defeated sister school St. Joseph's College (Brkln) 88-81 in a Skyline Conference dual-meet inside Danzi Center on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Golden Eagles improve to 4-0 (3-0 Skyline) on the season.

After dropping the first event—the 200 medley relay—Gabrielle Zollo (2:15.03), Julianne Garvey (2:29.49) and Catherine Peralta (2:41.53) finished first, second and third in the 200 yard free.

Kimberly Mazza posted a 28.34 time in the 50 yard free to give the Golden Eagles their second first-place finish through the first three events, and later Zollo would claim her second win of the afternoon with a time of 1:09.86 in the 100 butterfly.

Additional first-place finishes were had by Mazza (6:14.77) in the 500 free and the 200 freestyle relay team of Garvey, Zollo, Mazza and Lorraine Diehl.

"We had a great meet," said head coach Stephanie Palmeri after her side earned its third-straight victory. "The team is really starting to understand how to race each event and our results are showing that."

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, November 13 when they welcome Hunter College to the Danzi Center for a 6:30 PM dual-meet. Full meet write-up will be available following the action here at sjcgoldeneagles.com.
