Arquer Earns Bid to ECAC's at NJAC Track & Field Championships

Staten Island, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's track teams both competed at the NJAC Championships on Monday night at the Ocean Breeze Park Track and Field Athletic Complex.

Overall, the women's team finished seven out of nine teams with 15 points and the men scored eight points to finish ninth out of nine schools.

Ashley Arquer was the stand-out runner for the women's side, earning an ECAC qualification and fourth-place time of 8.07 in the 60-meter dash.

Mikayla Kowalevich broke the program record in the 60 meter high hurdle with a 10.31 second mark.

The team of Briana Shand, Arquer, Jennifer Holownia, and Jessica Pierno earned a fourth place finish in the 4x200-meter with a time of 1:50.72, which earned them a bid to the ECAC Championships.

The team of Amanda Sprague, Kelly Roberts, Holownia, and Pierno placed seventh in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:36.77.

For the men, Brian Frejka, Mike O'Shea, Daniel Antonawich, and Anthony Figorito earned a fifth-place finish with their record-breaking time of 1:35.96 in the 4x200-meter, while the 4x400-meter relay group of Frejka, O'Shea, Antonawich and Figorito clocked in at 3:36.77. 

Arquer along with teammates Shand, Holownia, and Pierno will now travel to Ithaca, NY to compete in the ECAC Championships on Friday, March 3 at 4:00 PM.
