AnnMarie Zigrosser Named to All-NJAC Team in 10,000m Run

PITMAN, N.J. — Graduate student AnnMarie Zigrosser (Bayport, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) of the St. Joseph's women's outdoor track and field team has been named to the All-New Jersey Athletic Conference Second Team by virtue of her second place performance in the 10,000m run.  Her time of 39:15.24 was a St. Joseph's school record. She also made the All-NJAC team in the fall for the indoor team for the second time.

Rowan University junior Shailah Williams has been selected as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Thomas M. Gerrity Most Outstanding Athlete for the 2015 season. Her selection highlighted the 62-member NJAC women's outdoor track & field all-conference team which was announced on May 7. All NJAC special awards were determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches. The league's all-conference honors were based on performances at the 2015 NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships which were conducted at Ramapo College on May 2-3.

The selection of Williams marks the third consecutive year that a Rowan student-athlete has garnered the Women's Gerrity Award. Williams claimed the NJAC crown in the 100 meter dash with a school-record and an ECAC qualifying time of 11.97. She also claimed the league title in the 200 meters with a school-record, a conference-record, and an ECAC qualifying time of 24.36. She also was a member of the Profs' NJAC Champion 4x400 meter relay which registered a conference-record and an ECAC qualifying time of 4:48.70. A two-time NJAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week selection, she also competed on Rowan's NJAC Champion 4x100 meter relay which registered an ECAC qualifying time of 47.76. The performances by Williams in the 200 meters and the 100 meters currently rank fifth and 10th in NCAA Division III this season, while the Rowan 4x400 and 4x100 meter relays hold the 10th and 12th best national times respectively.

Rowan University senior Melirah Searcy was selected as the conference's Outstanding Women's Track Athlete. Searcy claimed the NJAC championship in the 400 meter hurdles with a school-record and an ECAC qualifying time of 1:01.49. She also garnered the conference crown in the 400 meters with a personal-best and an ECAC qualifying time of 56.57. She also was a member of the Profs' NJAC Champion 4x400 meter relay which produced a conference-record and an ECAC qualifying time of 4:48.70. Searcy's times in the 400 meter hurdles and the 400 meters currently rank fifth and 20th respectively in NCAA Division III this season.

Ramapo College senior Alexis Appezzato was named the NJAC Outstanding Women's Field Athlete, marking the fourth straight year that a Roadrunner student-athlete has garnered the award. Appezzato claimed the NJAC title in the javelin with a conference-record and an ECAC qualifying throw of 47.00 meters. A four-time NJAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week selection, she currently holds the third best javelin throw in NCAA Division III this season (47.90 meters). Appezzato also placed fifth in the NJAC hammer throw event with a personal-best mark of 39.00 meters.

Stockton University freshman Kaitlyn Dermen was selected as the NJAC Women's Outdoor Rookie of the Year. She produced third-place and ECAC qualifying finishes in both the 100 meter hurdles and the pole vault with respective marks of 15.41 seconds and 3.42 meters. A Week 6 NJAC Rookie of the Week selection, Dermen also finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:06.52 and competed as a member of the Ospreys' fifth-place 4x400 meter relay (4:08.13).

Rowan University head coach Derick "Ringo" Adamson was selected as the NJAC Women's Coach of the Year by his peers. Adamson guided the Profs to the 2015 NJAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship for Rowan's third title in the past four seasons.
