Women's Track and Field Captures First at Coach Omeltchenko Invitational

Kings Point, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's track and field traveled to Kings Point, NY for the Coach Omeltchenko Invitational on Sunday at Brooks Stadium.
The women finished in first place at the invitational after picking up 197 points, the men scored 139 points and finished behind USMMA and Farmingdale St.  

The women 4x100-meter team of Briana Shand, Ashley Arquer, Jennifer Holownia, and Madelyn Kowalevich crossed the line at the 53.01 mark which was good enough for a first place finish.

Kelly Roberts earned another first place finish with her 5:16.95 time in the 1500-meter run.

Ryan Haun raced into first place with his 4:20.51 time in the 1500 meter run for the men side.

Madelyn Kowlavich broke the program record in the 100-meter hurdle with a 16.98 first-place time. Mikayla Kowlevich came in second in the event with a 17.30 time.

Arquer and Shand earned first and second place victories in the 100-meter dash with 12.94 and 13.14 times, respectively.

Rob Sarno clinched first in the high jump leaping a distance of 1.83 meters and would come in first in the triple jump with a 12.83 meter leap. Jessica Pierno earned a first place finish as well with her 1.34 meter leap and broke her previous record in the shot put with a 10.64 toss.

Gabrielle-Ada Mason put her name in the record books with her 2.97 meter distance in the pole vault.

Pierno and Holownia leapt to a first and second place finish with their 4.64 meter leaps.
