Riverdale, NY| The #4 St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's volleyball team saw its 2015 season come to an end on Thursday evening as it suffered a 3-1 road loss to the top-seeded College of Mount Saint Vincent in the Skyline Conference semifinal round.

With the defeat, the Golden Eagles finish the season with a 17-16 (8-2 Skyline) record, while the Dolphins improve to 16-13 (9-1 Skyline).
A tight first set saw tied scores of 5-5 and 8-8 early, but the Golden Eagles would build a 14-10 lead midway through the frame. The Dolphins responded with the next two points, but St. Joseph's would counter with three-straight to go up 17-12. An 8-0 run saw the Dolphins regain the lead (20-17), and the pushback was significant enough to propel the hosts to a 25-20 set win.

After pulling ahead 6-2 in the second, the Golden Eagles surrendered the next four points and allowed the Dolphins to tie the frame at six. Continued back-and-forth play led to a 11-11 gridlock shortly after, but St. Joseph's tallied seven of the next 10 points to distance themselves from their opponent (18-14).

Later, up 22-17, SJC looked poised to take the set, but a furious 7-2 run by the hosts knotted the game at 24. Despite the scare, a Courtney Wickline kill followed by a CMSV attack error cleared all doubts as the guests took the set 26-24 and tied the match at one.

With the score tied at seven early in the third, it was SJC who forged a 5-1 run to pull ahead 12-8. CMSV responded with five of the next six to tie the game at 13 before pulling ahead following a Claire Urizzo attack error. The Dolphins then widened their lead (20-14) before storming to a 25-19 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

On to the fourth, where the Golden Eagles opened with a 5-0 run before later allowing the opposition to tie the set at 11. After rallying to move ahead 18-15 off a Courtney Bocchieri kill, a 5-1 run fired CMSV into the lead (20-19), which would prove to be the difference maker, as the Dolphins stormed to a 25-22 win in the fourth to claim the match 3-1.

SJC's Heather Ferchland and CMSV's Ashleigh Scozzari recorded a game-best 18 kills apiece in the contest's premier matchup, while Wickline (44 assists) and Jenna Beekman (16 digs) also recorded game-highs. Bocchieri went for 11 kills and three blocks.

Mount Saint Vincent advances to the Skyline Conference final on Saturday and will host Mount Saint Mary.
