Women's Volleyball Falls Twice on Saturday

Newport, RI| The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles were edged by Plymouth State 3-0 before falling to host Salve Regina University 3-0.

SCJ 0, Plymouth 3

The Panthers needed extra points to edge the Golden Eagles in sets one and three, 26-24, with a 25-15 win in the middle set.

Sophomore Amanda Goldstein led the Golden Eagles with nine kill while hitting at a .438 clip. Freshman Lauren Harmer pitched in with nine kills and a .412 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Brionna Silva dished 24 assists with senior libero Danielle Senecal recording a game-best 11 digs.

Francie Shaffer led the Panthers with 14 kills and Lex Bowers added 10 kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Setter Alexa Price tossed 33 assists and Alisha Flanagan finished with eight digs.

SCJ 0, Salve Regina 3

The Seahawks took down the visiting Golden Eagles 25-17 in the first set before completing the sweep with 25-19 and 25-20 wins in sets two and three.

Junior Kaitlin Williams led SJC with seven kills with six digs and two blocks. Junior Jessica Young and Goldstein pitched in with six kills apiece.

Silva finished with 24 assists with Senecal scooping up 19 digs.

Annie Donahue led the Seahawks with a match-best nine kills. Setter Oliva Noonan recorded 26 assists and Katie Linekin led all players with 19 digs.

The Golden Eagles open up Skyline Conference play with they host St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn on Wednesday, September 28. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
