St. Joseph’s Cross Country Competes at NCAA Regionals on Saturday

Mt. Morris, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) women's and men's cross country teams earned 25th and 31st place finishes, respectively, at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday which took place at Letchworth State Park in Mt. Morris, NY. The women competed in a field of 37 schools, and the men in a field of 41.

Behind strong performances from freshman Ryan Haun (148th, 28:00.8), sophomore Nick Morfesi(160th, 28:14.6) and senior Michael LoSchiavo (178th, 28:37.2), who all broke the school's existing record on the 8k course, finished ahead of all their Skyline rivals, including 2015 champion SUNY Maritime.

Rounding out the men's top-five were junior Nick DIaz (216th, 29:54.9) and senior John Suchopar(254th, 31:48.9). The men's field consisted of 288 individual runners.

The women also finished ahead of their Skyline rivals, as senior Brittany Guttieri paced the Golden Eagles with a 122nd place finish and a 6k time of 24:33.4.

In behind Guttieri was sophomore Erin MacDonell (129th, 24:41.7), senior Samantha Maurice (141st, 24:59.5), junior Megan Lavery (149th, 25:08.5) and senior Katie Scharrenbroich (156th, 25:26.8).

The Golden Eagles finish the 2015 season with 10 All-Conference selections, two individual conference champions (Haun and Maurice), a Rookie of the Year (MacDonell) and the women's Coach of the Year (Jim Crowley).
