Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Finish 3rd at SJC Invitational

Kings Park, NY| Both the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's and women's cross country teams placed third at the 17th Annual St. Joseph's College Invitational held at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday afternoon. The men participated in a field of 20 teams and the women a field of 18. Participating schools ranged from Division II to junior college programs.

The men were led by freshman Tim Monahan (27:41.4) who finished in ninth place in the 8k run. Sophomore Ryan Haun (27:58.4) checked in at 14th place, and junior James Dachille (28:37.1) took 17th. Senior Nick Diaz (28:48.9, 20th) and freshman Nick DeLuca (29:17.4, 27th) rounded out the SJC top five.

On the women's side, junior Erin MacDonell posted a time of 19:57.4 and placed third. The reigning Skyline Rookie of the Year was the highest placing Division III runner in the 5k race.

Senior Kelly Roberts (21:35.6, 22nd), sophomore Taylor Darby (21:42.9, 25th), junior Amanda Sprague (22:16.5, 33rd) and sophomore Abigail Lehr (22:36.5, 37th) rounded out a SJC contingent that finished behind Cerritos (1st) and Farmingdale (2nd).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, October 30 when they host the Skyline Conference Championships at Broadway Ave. Park in Sayville, NY. The women begin at 2:00 PM and the men at 3:00 PM. Full meet recap here at sjcgoldeneagles.com following the action.
