Nine Golden Eagles Receive Skyline Honors

New York, NY| Six Golden Eagles secured Skyline Conference Weekly recognition with sophomore Natalie Kopala, graduate Matt Lopez, and junior Gianna Dickson garnering top honors when the conference released its weekly awards on Tuesday morning. 

Additionally, juniors Sebastiano Bartolotta and Vincent Mariani (men's soccer), senior Ana Lombardo (women's soccer), freshman Allison Goodyear (women's tennis), Ryan Steinberg (men's cross country), and Connr Riegel (men's golf) all secured Weekly Honor Roll recognition. 

Natalie Kopala (So.) - Women's Tennis Player of the Week

Kopala went 4-0 in #1 singles this week with wins over Mt. St. Mary, Farmingdale, Purchase, and Manhattanville. The sophomore also finished with two wins in the #1 doubles.

Matt Lopez (Gr.) - Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Lopez was the overall top finisher at the SJLI Invitational 8K race turning in a time of 26:34.1, just about 42 seconds ahead of second place. The Ronkonkoma, NY native guided the Golden Eagles to a first-place finish as a team.

Gianna Dickson (Jr.) - Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Dickson was SJLI's top finisher at the SJLI Invitational with a 5K time of 20:39.0 to place fifth overall out of 176 runners.

Sebastiano Bartolotta (Jr.) - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Bartolotta led a backline that allowed one goal in two conference matchups on the week. The junior helped hold Old Westbury to no goals in a shutout 3-0 win. 

Vincent Mariani (Jr.) - Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Mariani scored two goals in a 3-0 win against Old Westbury while collecting two shots on goal. 

Ana Lombardo (Sr.) - Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll

Lombardo recorded two goals on three shots in a 4-0 win against St. Joseph's Brooklyn.

Allison Goodyear (Fr.) - Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll

Goodyear went 3-0 in singles play (2-0 in #3 and 1-0 in #4).

Ryan Steinberg (Fr.) - Men's Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll

Steinberg came in eighth place overall out of 193 runners at the SJLI Invitational with a time of 28:48.4

Connor Riegel (Fr.) - Men's Golf Weekly Honor Roll

Riegel led the Golden Eagles to a first-place victory at the St. Joseph's Tri-Match. The freshman finished with a score of 78 to place third overall.
