Dean Kamvakis was appointed Head Athletic Trainer by Director of Athletics Melody Cope in September 2020.

Kamvakis arrived at SJC from the New York Institute of Technology, where he spent the past 27 years as the head of the athletic training department.

At NYIT, Kamvakis served as Head Athletic Trainer from 1993 to 2018 before his promotion to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance in August of 2018. At Tech, Kamvakis oversaw all facets of the athletic training and sports performance departments, which included two full-time trainers and two strength coaches and serviced 250+ NCAA Division II athletes.

Prior to NYIT, Kamvakis worked as a certified athletic trainer at Onondaga Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center in 1992 and 1993.

Kamvakis earned his M.S. in Physical Education from Ithaca College in 1991, one year after completing a B.S. in Biology from St. Lawrence University. A National Athletic Trainers Association member, Kamvakis is also a New York State Certified Athletic Trainer.
