Patchogue, NY| Over a full year since the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team has hosted a game on Gregg Alfano Field, the Golden Eagles open the 2021 season by welcoming Skyline Conference opponent the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 21 at 11:00 am.

The Golden Eagles only saw action in three non-conference games in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season finishing at 1-2.

Returners: In his eighth season leading the Golden Eagles, Coach Rick Garrett returns 28 to a squad that graduated five after the 2020 season.

Senior Tyler Sanderson is back for another season and will headline the Golden Eagle offense. Off to a hot start in 2020, Sanderson posted a .462 batting average and a .846 slugging percentage. The third baseman knocked in two runs on six hits, three doubles, and a triple while scoring five runs.

Graduate student Anthony Raucci returns for his final season in a St. Joseph's uniform. The shortstop hit .429 (3-for-7) in 2020 after a successful 2019 campaign with a .336 batting average, 39 hits, 27 runs, and 23 RBI.

Junior Mike Badala reprises his role behind the dish with juniors Nick Vicino and Charles Rainone looking for time at first.

On the mound, juniors Ryan Foran and Kevin Czeczotka look to guide a pitching staff back into the postseason. Both with similar freshman seasons in 2019, Foran went 2-2 with and 21 strikeouts in 29 innings on the bump, while Czeczotka finished 2-2 with 25 K's in 28.1 innings.

Newcomers: Fourteen freshmen and sophomores are on Coach Garrett's squad this season and will look to make an immediate impact.

Joe Sanguedolce, Matthew La Sala, Ryan Thatcher, and Ryan Decoursey will work to earn innings in the SJC infield while Phil Krapata, Michal Manzolillo, Jonathan Robinson, and Nick Corsaro compete for spots in the outfield.

Dante DiMarco will seek time behind the plate while four newcomers will round out the veteran pitching staff.

When they begin: SJC continues its three-game series against the Dolphins on Monday, March 22. All games will be played at Gregg Alfano Field with the Golden Eagles as the home team on the 21st and the Dolphins playing hosts on the 22nd.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, no spectators will be permitted on-site for any and all games this season, home and away. All home games will be streamed live at sjcgoldeneagles.com.
