Baseball Shut Out in OW Series Finale

Farmingdale, NY| The St. Joseph's College baseball team dropped the rubber match of a three-game series, 5-0, to SUNY Old Westbury at Rams Field on Monday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles fall to 2-4 on the season and in conference play as the Panthers improve to 6-1 overall, 5-1 Skyline.

OW struck first with a run in the opening frame. A two-out bases-loaded fielder's choice from Oscar Fajardo brought home Jacob Dell'Olio who singled earlier in the inning.

After four scoreless innings, the Golden Eagles used some patience earning three walks in the top of the fifth loading the bases for, but OW's starter Patrick Quinn produced a groundout to second recording the final out to end the threat.

In the bottom half of the inning, a two-out RBI single from Brandon Wilson created some breathing room for the Panthers, and despite getting runners on base in the top of the sixth and the seventh, SJC was unable to push a run across and remained scoreless.

Old Westbury tacked on three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth moving the game to its final, 5-0.

Quinn picked up his first win of the season allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts in six innings of work.

SJC's Daniel Deckert (0-2) was tagged with the loss surrendering two runs on five hits in seven innings.

The Golden Eagles return to Gregg Alfano Field on Thursday, April 1, and face St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn. Game times are set for 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
