Eagles Chomped by Sage Gators in Skyline Defeat

Patchogue, N.Y. — The Golden Eagles (2-8, 1-2 SKY) lost their second Skyline Conference game on Saturday against the Sage Gators (6-3, 3-1 SKY), 100-78.  Andy Laurent (Amityville, NY/ Amityville) and Sean McCarthy (Kings Park, N.Y./ Kings Park) led the Eagles' offensive efforts with 24 points and 22 points, respectively.

St. Joseph's seemed to have the game under control in the first half, matching Sage point-for-point and effectively overcoming their constant full court press. After tying the game at 31, the Eagles slowly fell behind the visiting team, lagging at the half 50-37.

The Gator's lead only grew as the second half progressed; the Eagles couldn't convert possessions into points and the missed shots slowed momentum.

Laurent, in addition to his game-high 24 points, grabbed three rebounds and three steals.  Along with his 22 points, McCarthy also ripped down ten rebounds, dished off three assists and had three steals. Wade Richardson (Copaigue, N.Y./ Copaigue) sunk nine points while Darryl Charles (Middletown, NY/ Poughkeepsie) contributed with six points, eight rebounds and four blocks. The tam shot 64.3% from the foul line and 37% from the field.

The Golden Eagles will take on Mt. St. Mary in their second Skyline game in three days at home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
