Farmingdale Ends SJC's Season in Skyline Tournament Quarterfinal

Farmingdale, N.Y. - In the quarterfinal round of the Skyline Conference playoffs, #3 Farmingdale State earned an 84-57 victory over sixth-seeded St. Joseph's College. The Rams advance to the semifinals and face #2 Mount Saint Mary on Thursday night.

Leading 23-19 with 8:46 remaining in the first half, Farmingdale State (18-8) went on a 14-0 run before allowing a St. Joseph's (9-17) layup with five seconds left to take a 37-21 lead into the break. 

After the Golden Eagles cut the deficit to 39-26, the Rams used a 14-3 run to open up a 24-point lead with 13:01 remaining.

The Rams held a 69-50 lead with 5:31 to play, before junior guard Justin Bailey (Jamaica, N.Y.) connected on a 3 and hit a layup to bring the advantage back to 24.

With tonight's victory the Rams head to Mount Saint Mary for the semifinals on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.  The loss ends the season for St. Joseph's.

Senior center Donald Lawes (Queens, N.Y.) scored 14 points, had 15 rebounds and six blocks, while senior guard Timothy Johnson (Queens, N.Y.) had a team-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting for Farmingdale State. Bailey added 17 points and senior guard Jonathan Annan (Queens, N.Y.) scored 10 points and dished out a game-high eight assists.

The Golden Eagles were led by junior forward Darryl Charles (Middletown, N.Y.) who tallied a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  Junior guard Sean McCarthy (Kings Park, N.Y.) added 19 points for SJC.
