Four in Double Digits as Men's Basketball Beats Mt. St. Vincent

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team defeated the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 82-68, in a Skyline Conference contest in the Danzi Center on Wednesday evening. 

The win improves the Golden Eagles to a 6-6 overall record and a 2-3 Skyline mark. The Dolphins fall to 4-7 and 2-2. 

Freshman Alec Tabada led the Golden Eagles with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double, his fourth of the season. 

Junior Jake Gaudiello added 16 points on 4-for-5 shooting from three, which was a game high. Graduate student Gordon Shouler contributed with 13 points and a game-best six assists.

Dan Porcic led the Dolphins in scoring with a game-high 27 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field.

SJC started the game off strong, taking an early 10-2 lead before carrying an eight-point lead (36-28) into the break. 

The visitors started the second half strong and cut the Golden Eagle lead to as few as three points. However, with the score at 39-35 (16:40), the Golden Eagles went on a 12-0 run to solidify their lead. 

The Dolphins stayed within striking distance throughout the second half, but the Golden Eagles came through for the 82-68 victory.

SJC shot 48.3% from the field and 47.4% from three on the night. Defensively, St. Joseph's held the visitors to a 42.9% field goal percentage and a 30.4% three-point shooting percentage. 

The Golden Eagles return to action when they visit Manhattanville College for a conference matchup on Saturday, January 15th at 2:00 pm.
