Alec Tabada Named ECAC Rookie of the Month

Danbury, CT| The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) released its monthly award winners on Wednesday morning and amongst the winners was freshman Alec Tabada of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team, who was named Metro Region Rookie of the Month for January.

A four-time Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week this season, Tabada earned the same honor twice in the month of January and had three double-doubles in seven games.

The forward averaged 19.6 points-, 8.4 rebounds-, 3.0 steals-, and 1.4 blocks-per-game, powering SJC to a 5-2 overall record.

Tabada scored a season-high 22 points three times and went for 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-40 win over USMMA on January 30. 

Among conference leaders, Tabada ranks first in steals-per-game, fourth in field-goal percentage, sixth in blocks-per-game, ninth in rebounding, and 10th in scoring.

Tabada becomes the first Golden Eagle to win an ECAC monthly honor since Frank Basile won the Player of the Month for January 2020.
