Men's Basketball Trio Grabs End of Season Skyline Awards

Skyline Release

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team collected a trio of end-of-season awards when the Skyline Conference announced its All-Conference teams on Monday morning.

Freshman Alex Tabada was named Rookie of the Year while sophomore Spencer Malloy landed on the All-Conference First-Team. Third-year head coach Michael McSloy was named a Co-Coach of the Year and shared the honor with USMMA's Rob Pryor.

Tabada averaged 13.5 points-per-game this season and finished top-10 in the conference in steals-per-game (1.9), blocks-per-game (1.2), field goal percentage (49.4%), and free throw percentage (66.0%).

The North Babylon, NY native was named ECAC Metro Rookie of the Month for January and earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors four times this season.

Malloy, a three-time Rookie of the Week himself, finished ninth in the conference in scoring (15.2 PPG) and fifth in rebounding (8.0 RPG). Additionally, he was third in field goal percentage (54.9%).

McSloy powered the Golden Eagles to a 15-9 overall record and an 11-5 mark in Skyline Conference play. SJC qualified for the conference playoff tournament for the first time since 2016-17 as the fifth seed. The Golden Eagles boasted an overall record over .500 for the first time since 2014-15 and ranked fourth in the conference offensively and defensively.
