The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) Golden Eagles defeated the York Cardinals 72-43 in a non-conference matchup for their first win of the season Thursday evening in the Danzi Center.

• Junior Xavier Allen led the Golden Eagles with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds along with a game-high six assists
• Graduate student Matthew Hirdt was 4-for-7 from three-point range in a 12-point performance
• Freshman Justin Turner added 10 points with a pair of steals and a block 
• York was led by Terell Fullerton with 12 points and Olawale Kila who finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds

How it happened

• The Golden Eagles led wire-to-wire dropping in five three-pointers in the opening minutes
• After keeping the Cardinals at arm's distance, a 10-0 scoring run through the end of the first half gave the hosts a 33-13 advantage heading into the break
• St. Joseph's maintained a double-digit lead in the second half, shooting 50% from three and 53.3% from the field
• The Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the night when sophomore Nick Nemickas connected from beyond the arc for a 70-41 advantage

• Tonight's win marks head coach AJ Uhl's first at St. Joseph's 
• The Golden Eagles shot 45.3% from the floor and 40.7 % from three-point range while limiting the Cardinals to just 23.9%
• The home teams showed dominance down low outscoring York 30-24 in the paint while holding a 46-39 rebounding advantage
