The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) Golden Eagles defeated the York Cardinals 72-43 in a non-conference matchup for their first win of the season Thursday evening in the Danzi Center.

  • Junior Xavier Allen led the Golden Eagles with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds along with a game-high six assists

How it happened
  • The Golden Eagles led wire-to-wire dropping in five three-pointers in the opening minutes
  • After keeping the Cardinals at arm's distance, a 10-0 scoring run through the end of the first half gave the hosts a 33-13 advantage heading into the break
  • St. Joseph's maintained a double-digit lead in the second half, shooting 50% from three and 53.3% from the field
  • The Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the night when sophomore Nick Nemickas connected from beyond the arc for a 70-41 advantage

  • Tonight's win marks head coach AJ Uhl's first at St. Joseph's 
  • The Golden Eagles shot 45.3% from the floor and 40.7 % from three-point range while limiting the Cardinals to just 23.9%
  • The home teams showed dominance down low outscoring York 30-24 in the paint while holding a 46-39 rebounding advantage

The Golden Eagles return to action when they travel to Union College to take on the SUNY Poly Wildcats in the Sig Makofski Tournament on Saturday, November 26th at 2 PM.
