Results:

The St. Joseph's University (L.I.) men's basketball team suffers a 65-63 loss to Farmingdale State College in a conference match-up at the Danzi Center on Wednesday evening.

Top performers:

  • The Golden Eagles had four players finish in double-digits, with Junior Alec Tabada leading the team with 17 points while adding seven rebounds

  • Senior Spencer Malloy recorded a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds, with his 13 boards leading both teams

  • Junior Xavier Allen collected 16 points with five rebounds and two steals

  • Senior Terrin Roy scored 14 points and recorded a game-high four assists

  • The Rams were led by Aaron Davis' 21-point performance, with 15 of those coming in the second half

  • Nick Hurowitz contributed 16 points, six rebounds, and three steals, while Corey Powell led FSC with eight rebounds

How it happened:

  • St. Joseph's jumped out in front to take a 10-0 lead in the first four minutes of play, with Tabada scoring five points during the run

  • Farmingdale State responded with nine consecutive points to come within one (10-9) before a pair of three-point baskets by Roy powered an 8-2 Golden Eagle run to go back ahead by seven (18-11) halfway through the first half

  • Roy hit another three at the 8:10 mark, then FSC scored eight of the next 10 points, with Hurowitz scoring four, to come within one (23-22) of SJLI's lead at the 5:08 mark

  • With 2:38 remaining in the half, the Rams knotted the score at 26 on a jump shot from Davis

  • The Golden Eagles quickly went back in front, finishing the half with an 8-0 run to go into the break ahead 34-26

  • A back-and-forth first five minutes of the second half saw the hosts extend their lead to as much as 10

  • With the hosts leading by seven at the 14:52 mark, the Golden Eagles scored seven straight points, with Malloy's layup at the 11:58 mark increasing their lead to 14 (48-34), which was the most they led by at any point on the night

  • Farmingdale scored 14 points in the next five minutes, out-scoring St. Joseph's 14-2, to trim their deficit to two (50-48). Jevon Santos' three-point play at the 6:30 mark completed the run

  • A three for Hurowitz with 4:37 remaining brought the Rams within one (52-51) before Allen responded with a three of his own on the next possession to put the hosts back up by four

  • FSC's Davis scored five of the next six points in the game, with his final shot tying the game at 56 with 3:10 to go

  • The Rams took their first lead of the game with 2:32 on the clock, with Hurowitz's layup giving the visitors a 58-57 advantage

  • Hurowitz proceeded to score five points in a row after giving his team the lead, which extended that lead to six (63-57)

  • The Golden Eagles scored the following six points, with Allen's layup with 12 seconds remaining to tie the game at 63

  • A pair of late free throws for Farmingdale proved to be the difference, as St. Joseph's lost by two (65-63) to begin conference play

  • St. Joseph's shot 40.3% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range

  • Farmingdale State posted a 33.9% shooting percentage overall and 31.3% from beyond the arc

  • The Golden Eagles shot 53.8% (7-for-13) on free throws compared to the Rams' 80% (20-25)

  • SJLI held the advantage in rebounds (42-37)

  • Farmingdale out-scored St. Joseph's 22-20 in the paint
