Brust Named Defensive POTY, Gilbride and Raccuglia Land All-Conf. Nods
New York, NY| Junior Andrew Brust keeper was named Defensive Player of the Year and joined sophomore Jack Gilbride (First-Team) and senior Vincent Raccuglia (Second-Team) on All-Conference teams when the Skyline Conference released its end-of-season men's lacrosse awards on Monday afternoon.
Brust started all eight games for SJC this season and posted a 4-4 record. The junior finished second in the league in goals-against average (6.37), saves-per-game (12.13), and save percentage (.660). The two-time Skyline Defensive Player of the Week also landed on the Skyline All-Conference First-Team.
Gilbride powered SJC's offense, posting team-high totals in points (32), assists (11), and total shots (56). The attack finished third in the conference in points-per-game (4.00), sixth in goals-per-game (2.63), and eighth in assists-per-game (1.38).
On the Second-Team was Raccuglia, who anchored the SJC defense and finished third in the conference in caused turnovers-per-game (2.50). The defender led SJC in ground balls (34) and caused turnovers (20) and also contributed two goals and two assists offensively.
The Golden Eagles qualified for the Skyline Conference Championship tournament as the fourth seed and were defeated, 8-7, by top-seeded and eventual champion SUNY Maritime on May 5.
