Men’s Lacrosse Loses to Maritime in Skyline Showdown

Throggs Neck, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team was defeated, 15-5, by defending Skyline Conference champions SUNY Maritime in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 4-5 overall on the year and 1-2 in Skyline play as the Privateers improve to 6-7 and 4-0. 

Tim McCann tallied one goal and one assist and was SJC's only multi-point performer. 

Richie Pollizzi Jr., Jack Gilbride, Matt Trautman, and Tyler Kollar also provided goals in the contest.

Michael Carere won 13 of 17 faceoffs and scooped up a game-best nine ground balls.

Andrew Brust (L, 4-5) made 13 saves on 28 shots in the SJC goal.

The Privateers scored early and often and, after leading 4-1 after one, held a 8-1 advantage at halftime.

Kollar and Trautman tallied in the third quarter, and McCann and Pollizzi found the back of the net in the fourth quarter.

St. Joseph's was outshot 45-43 but held a dominant 17-6 edge in faceoffs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, April 20, when they visit Purchase for a Skyline Conference contest at 7:00 pm.
