Men's Soccer Edged by Manhattanville at Home

Patchogue, NY| Despite taking a 1-0 lead in the second half, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 Skyline Conference decision to Manhattanville College at home on Wednesday evening.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 2-11-1 overall on the year and 2-6-1 in Skyline play as the Valiants improve to 11-2-2 (8-0-1 Skyline).

Senior Rayneri Ruiz gave SJC a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute when he beat the keeper with a long shot from way outside the box.

The Valiants would tie the score up at one eight minutes later when Conde Fabori converted on a rush from the left side. The forward would score the winner five minutes later when he finished off a right-sided cross in the middle of the box.

Junior keeper Tyler Flaherty made three saves on five shots and took the loss in the SJC net.

Overall, Manhattanville outshot St. Joseph's 15-9 and won nine corners to SJC's four.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 26 when they visit the College of Mount St. Vincent for a Skyline Conference contest at 1:00 pm.
