Men’s Soccer Topples Medgar Evers, 3-0

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team picked up its first win of the 2021 season with a 3-0 result over Medgar Evers in a non-conference contest at Danzi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Freshmen Vincent Mariani and Sebastiano Bartolotta scored their first-career goals, and senior Adam Murasso tallied for the first time since September 22, 2018.

Mariani opened the scoring in the 36th minute when he finished off a rebound attempt with his head.

SJC carried a 1-0 lead into the 66th minute, when Murasso, also using his head, scored off of a Justin Gracia corner.

Bartolotta's tally came in the 88th minute when he pounced on a loose ball outside of the box and beat the keeper low to the right side.

Senior keeper Tyler Flaherty made just one save and earned a clean sheet.

SJC carried play throughout, outshooting the Cougars 26-6 and winning 10 corners to the guests' two.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Monday, September 13, when they visit Yeshiva University for a Skyline Conference contest at 8:00 pm.
