Men’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Contest to West Conn.

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team was defeated, 6-0, by Western Connecticut State University in a non-conference contest at Danzi Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 2-5-1 overall on the year as the Pioneers improve to 11-3-0.

Franz Muhaj and Jordan Dacosta both tallied twice for Western Connecticut in a match that saw their side outshoot the hosts 27-3. Muhaj alone had a game-best eight shots.

The Pioneers opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Kent Eannarino took a through ball in stride and beat SJC keeper Tyler Flaherty 1-v-1.

Eannarino went on to assist on Muhaj's first goal in the 26th minute that ensured the guests entered the break ahead 2-0.

Matthew Restrepo and Muhaj tallied in the 50th and 66th minutes, respectively, before Dacosta capped off the evening's scoring in the 68th and 74th minutes.

Flaherty made nine saves in 67:01 of action for SJC. Giuseppe Vitale (16:42) and Josh Lehr (6:07) also saw action between the sticks. 

All three of Western Connecticut's keepers saw action but none made any saves. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, October 9, when they visit Sarah Lawrence for  a Skyline Conference contest at 7:00 pm.
