Men's Soccer Suffers Defeat on Saturday Evening

The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat for their second loss of the season on Saturday evening.

Top performers
  • Senior James Dacos registered shots with one shot on goal 

  • Junior Giuseppe Vitale recorded a game-high six saves on nine shots faced 

  • Tino Puentes, Ryan Fischer, and Jared Brown each totaled one goal for the Rangers

  • Matt Agudelo and Thomas Zurkowski finished with one assist

How it happened
  • Drew started the game strong with two scoring opportunities early with a with a shot from Brown and a header from Puentes were both turned away by Vitale 

  • As the game entered the second half scoreless the Rangers capitalized on a corner in the 67th minute courtesy of Brown from Agudelo

  • Just four minutes later Drew's Puentes fired a shot from the left side into the back of the net to take a 2-0 lead

  • SJLI would commit a foul in the 85th minute leading to a free kick, that provided Drew with another header goal to sea the victory for the Rangers

  • Drew controlled a 25-5 shots advantage 

  • The Rangers had 10 corners compared to the Golden Eagles one

  • The game was called with 1:30 left due to lightning
