Men’s Tennis Drops Season Opener to Hunter

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team dropped its season opener, 9-0, to non-conference rival Hunter College at home on Saturday afternoon.

The loss ensures the Golden Eagles start their campaign with a 0-1 record as the Hawks improve to 2-0.

In doubles action, the first doubles (William Vita and Cory Stengel) and third doubles (Gordon Shouler and Ryan McNeely) duos were both defeated 8-2.

In singles action, Stengel fared best in a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at second singles. Tyler Brock won three games in the second set of a 6-0, 6-3 loss at fourth singles.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, April 1, when they visit Lehman College for a non-conference title at 3:30 pm.
