Men's Tennis Edged by Purchase

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's tennis team was defeated, 5-4, by SUNY Purchase in a Skyline Conference contest at the SJC Outdoor Field Complex on Monday evening.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 1-7 overall on the year and 0-4 in Skyline play as the Panthers improve to 2-5 and 1-2. 

SJC's only doubles victory came at second doubles when the duo of William Vita and Gordon Shouler secured an 8-6 decision.

Cory Stengel picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles, and Gordon Shouler was a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 winner at fourth singles.

Ryan McNelley posted SJC's last win of the evening, a 6-3, 6-2 decision at sixth singles. 

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, April 21, when they host Baruch for a non-conference contest at 4:30 pm.
